Carl's Story - Playground Villain
Empower your students to deal with bullying!
Though young people learn from an early age that their own actions have some kind of consequence, the full extent of this truth may not be apparent to all. For some, the word probably evokes little more than the threat of punishment.
Though young people are aware that their actions have consequences, reinforcement may be needed. But the knowledge that misbehaving invites punishment is a crude deterrent. It may have the desired effect in the short term, but fails to address the root causes of that behaviour; nor does it necessarily encourage young people to analyse and modify their attitudes.
Playground Villain - The 6th Principle of RESPECTisms can help!
Perhaps the most serious story in the RESPECTisms for Kidz series, Carl's story, entitled 'Playground Villain' deals with the growing problem of bullying.
The principle character in this story is the perpetrator of the bullying. Perhaps as you read the story, you may feel that it is through no real fault of his own. However, the actions of a bully are always to be scorned upon and this story does just that.
Two new children in his school are faced with the unwelcome circumstance of being the victim of Carl's and his friend's bullying. The story will guide your child through a number of choices that are made, finally ending in a surprise outcome for everyone.
An important story dealing with a sensitive issue in a manner your students will relate to.
