Second Principle: Education - Eddie’s Story

Education is the key to success, it gives you choices. You must learn day by day, month by month, year by year, to broaden your horizons. If you study to remember, you will forget, but, if you study to understand, you will remember.

My name is Eddie, this is my story.

The first memory I have of my parents, in fact, the first memory I have of my life was of my parents arguing in front of me.  They were so wrapped up in themselves that they forgot that their five year-old little boy was a ringside spectator who was about to be emotionally scarred by what he saw and heard.

It was not a physical fight as such, but tempers were flaring as my mum told my dad that he was no good and that he should go out and get a job and support his family.

His replied was that ‘he tried’, but no one was prepared to give a job to someone who could not read and write properly, and that because he had a hand injury he could not even get a job as a labourer because of the lifting involved.

The Hope Dealer says:

"Eddie's first memory of his childhood was not good. It also looks like his dad messed up his education. If you are interested in reading more about Eddie and his dad who can't read or write, see below."
